Project Life - Week 2

Sunday:
Mark working hard at getting the house painted and ready for the new floors going in this week!

Monday
The tile has been laid!  We're waiting for it to set so it can be grouted!

Tuesday:
How we're living right now.  We found out the carpet installation is going to be delayed, so it looks like we will have to live like this for a few more days.  Patience is a virtue!

Wednesday:
The tile has been grouted and we can now walk on it!

Thursday:
Lauren Kate is 18 months old today!

Friday:
Uncle Joe came by for a visit.  All the guys on the small piece of our couch watching cartoons!

Saturday:
Sean's basketball game.  He played awesome!  He was voted best defensive player and made 6 baskets!

Chaos

My home is in chaos right now.  And when your home is out of sorts, so is your life.

Here is how we are living right now:

Walking in the front door, looking into the living room.  The refrigerator that close to the couch and TV is not doing any good to my New Years Resolutions, ha ha.

The dining room right next to the front door.  Washer, dryer, sink, just your usual...

The actual living room.  A piece of our sectional, dishwasher, table, and high chair, and the cement floors are freezing!

Yesterday and today they worked on the tile in the kitchen and the bathrooms.  We made this mistake:

Bathroom #1

Bathroom #2

Before it was over, I had to pee in a McDonald's cup.  In the closet.  Don't worry I won't share a picture of that!

All the tile is in now and looking really great.  All the furniture is still in the garage and it looks like it will be there the rest of the week.

They were supposed to get the carpet installed today and tomorrow, but had to order the carpet we wanted and it's coming from Georgia.  So, with all the crazy snow everywhere, it's going to be delayed.

At first I completely freaked out, it is so hard for me to live this way, but I'm trying to chill now and go with the flow and just be thankful that we hadn't taken apart our beds yet.  We were going to take them out last night and sleep on the floor until the carpet was installed!

Other than that, everything is going pretty smooth.  The only problem I had is that I took apart the computer and put it in the bathroom closet (to move my desk for the carpet) and since we tiled in there, I had to wait 24 hours to walk on the tile to get the computer back.  I feel sane now that I have it back.  It's on my kitchen counter top, adding just a little bit more madness to the chaos, but at least I can get to it.

Next time we remodel though, I think I will be taking my computer and checking into a hotel room where there is a toilet until all is done and over with!

Happy Homemaker Monday

The weather in my neck of the woods:
I haven't actually watched the weather to know the temp, but it's pretty cold!

Things that make me happy:
New starts.  I was really looking forward to 2011 and having a new start - 2010 was a rough year for our family!

Book I'm reading:
Reshaping It All ~ Candace Cameron Bure

What's on my TV today:
The Craigslist Killer (Lifetime)

On the menu for dinner:
we had waffles and eggs.  Yep, for dinner.

On my To Do List:

To finish up a work project I have right now.

New Recipe I tried or want to try soon:
Chicken Noodle Soup from Reshaping It All.

In the craft basket:
My Project Life album

Looking forward to this week:
School starting back and getting back into routine.

Tips and Tricks:
Have a white ceiling fan?  All the fans in my house are white and when I would dust them, the dust would just smear leaving the blades black.  Today, I went around to each room with my ladder and dusted each fan, then used a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to take off all the old smear marks.  They are once again white and look brand new!
My favorite blog post this week:
I really liked this post from Chapters on getting started exercising.

Blog Hopping (a new discovered blog you would like to share with the readers):
I haven't hopped around to new blogs yet this week.

No words needed (favorite photo or picture, yours or others you want to share):

Lesson learned the past few days:

I didn't want to make New Years resolutions this year until I came across a journal entry from my resolutions last year.  Some I accomplished and some I didn't and some I am still working on.  I've decided to go ahead and set goals (for myself and my family) because it shows me how far I come and how much I change each year.  It was great to see the things that I accomplished from last year and some of the ones that I didn't accomplish that I marked off my list because I have just changed my view on them.
On my mind:
Goals that I want to set for myself and family goals we would like to make for this year.

Closet

We spent all day today cleaning out our entry way closet.
I know I took a before picture of it, I know I did.  But, it is missing.  I cleared all my pictures off my memory card to start fresh for the year and I guess it was deleted without ever being transferred.
But, I took my closet organization idea from HERE and my before picture actually looks a lot like their before picture!
Here's our final result!

I am so happy with the result.  I keep opening the door and looking at it!  (I really wish I had that before picture so you could understand my happiness!)
Now on the rest of the house!!!

One more thing before I go...When I went to buy the closet system to put in here, I was shocked at the prices.  It was really expensive.  I did not want to be organized enough to pay that much money for shelves.
My husband went to look at shelves and he found this pantry kit.  And it was $60 less than what I had looked at.  (Which were the same brand and same type.  If I had bought what I had seen, it would look exactly like this.  I was just going to buy everything separately.)
The shelves were too long and so we cut them to fit our closet, but for $60 less it was worth the work!
